Hi Paul, First, love your channel! Second, a couple questions for you. I am preparing to build myself a new pc. I have a NIB 3700x and a NIB Evga 2060 KO gaming. Should I sell the 3700x and get a 5600x? Should I sell the 2060 and get a 3060/3060 Ti? On one hand, I don't game much, and I would probably be quite happy with the components I have. On the other hand, is it silly not to trade up for the newest components? I am going round and round about this.

Install the OS on the fastest storage on your system, if you have a NVME, then install it on NVME.

Paul I enjoy your videos and have been learned a lot. I do have one question that I cannot seem to find any information on. How do you determine what specs you need when building a new system rather than just buying the latest and greatest hardware. For example. I do a lot of sim racing and want to build a dedicated system that for iRacing. I would like to have the capability of VR and running triple screens. I get confused when I look at what CPU I need and what the GPU would be best. Its a little overwhelming.

I'll stay on my X370, R7 1700 and R9 290X till i have proper money and the entirely new DDR5 motherboards with new CPUs and GPUs come out. In the mean time if i have a reasonable opportunity. I'll only upgrade my R9 290X to the best bang for buck GPU whatever that will be.

Why would you want a different socket? Isn't it preferable to keep AM4 to keep motherboard compatibility? pcie5 and drr5 mean higher data speeds but what's the point of a physically different socket? does a new socket automatically mean more speed?

i'd have to disagree.. the 11th gen are as end of life as Zen3 CPUs.. i think intel will make 10nm work on 12th gen CPUs, which means that the 11th gen chipsets are last of the line, and will not have an upgrade path just as much as Zen 3 is end of AM4 chipset/sockets. Zen4 will be all new, and 12th gen Intel cpus will be all new..

This will be my next keyboard. I want a keyboard with analog audio control (and this has two wheelies!) AND has macro keys on the side. Two features that are very hard to find these days on one keyboard.

For next time, Been using a Logitech G510 for the last 10ish years. Does anyone make a replacement these days? Something with a large number of macro keys is a mush, and the little data screen is nice to have, though not needed. I haven't seen anything in the stores that is worth it as a replacement.

With a custom built PC, would you need to buy a new copy of Windows if the Motherboard is replaced? Because I know before the OS was linked to the MB so that you couldnt own one copy on multiple machines, is that still the case now?

Will the 3060 (w/12GB of VRAM) be a good buy for budget content creators? $330 for a 30-series RTX card with 12GB of VRAM "appears" to check the boxes. Good amount of VRAM for timeline editing, more CUDA cores than 20-series, those interesting streaming features, etc. I know that the better the card, the better the editing experience. However, the 3070 and above cards are out of my price-range (and stock). I'm struggling to start my MNpost channel, and my 1650 Super just doesn't seem to be enough.

And i'll aim for when DDR5 motherboards are on the market. And by then i presume there will be all new CPU sockets and all that stuff. If it's really the end of the current Intel 14nm CPUs and AMD's AM4 socket. Then i don't see a reason to upgrade. Only my GPU ofcourse. I'd love to get a 6800XT or a 6900XT or a 3080 Ti if that's a thing. Even the 3090 if it's priced under one grand. Not that i have anywhere remotely to that sum money. lol.

@GielderstGaming Well I'm working with a 2700X @4.0GHz, but only a 1650Super w/4GB of VRAM. I've already run into GPU memory issues while editing. (Could be corrected with some setting adjustments, but a quick search didn't yield results) The question was to help me make a decision on a future upgrade (once availability stabilizes), with a projected budget of $350. The 30-series as a whole has been well received by the tech channels. Plus the price to performance is good (compared to previous series). I prefer NVIDIA, not a fan-boy it's just my preference. However, I've always been disappointed that the mid to low-end cards have such small amounts of VRAM. This just seems like a good card for gamers & casual content creators who don't have $500+ to drop on a graphics card.

Yo dude with MNpost nothing's a guarantee. Look at me. My channel's from 2008. Yeah i've not been uploading in years. But i don't care if i grow or not. Plus the hardware i use is older than you probably(joking). I'm video editing with a Ryzen 1700@3.9GHz and a AMD R9 290X 8GB. And this is my one and only PC. I do it all on it. And i manage to upload 4K videos on my channel. So accept what you have and be happy. There's always worse.

Hey Paul. What do you use for live streaming to multiple platforms. Do you use something like Restream.io or do you host your own RTMP server?. I use NGinx on a Raspberry Pi 4 for mine. Love the videos, keep up the great work & say hi to kyle for me!

There is no need for am5 until AMD does 1 of 2 things, 1- changes pinout on cpu's or 2 - changes the amount of pins on their cpu's. The cpu x motherboard compatibility can be left to the chipset and just blocks certain cpu models [older cpu's] just like first gen Ryzen and b550/x570.

Hi Paul, happy to see you're doing great. I just wanted to say to take care of yourself and your family. I know you are out here in Socal and things are pretty grim, I just lost both my grandparents, grandma the first Monday of 2021, and grandpa the next Friday from covid. Our family is devastated. It took all night to finally get a mortuary as most were at capacity. I also work in healthcare and can see first hand how frantic and at capacity our facility is. So please be safe and stay sane during these tough times. Your videos are always a welcome respite from everything and great content as always.

it's 2021! When can we have the rtx and amd cards *and processors* that were promised at NORMAL non asshole prices?? How about processors that aren't being sold at scalped prices in retail stores? How about all that shit BEFORE Socket AM5, DDR5, PCIE 5.0 etc et.al. Shame on AMD and NVIDIA for not allocating enough processors and gpu's for consumers rather than giving it away to the mining assholes!

LMAO DDR4 speeds are mostly unobtainable at the top end as it is now as the CPUs through their development cannot handle what is currently available in RAM speed. RAM speed does not magically improve just because of the node of the CPU. PCIe 4 is a feature that also fails in product support too with many reviewers explaining how to shut it off, going to PCIe 5 any time soon would be idiotic. AM4 being called EOL and "time for shinny new toys at 0.1ghz better speeds for over 1000 dollars sorry we ended all prior products" with AM5 is a good pathway to ritual suicide. AM4 meets the needs of both consumers and industry. Unless you find a way to gold plate a chicken, AM5 isn't promising anything that will be better than things are now other than marketing words. At some point when purchasing a car, knowing the top speed is 300 miles per hour is pointless when you live across the road from a school. Purchasing such a car is purchasing engineering you will never ever need or use.

My bet is it wont be until 1st quarter 2022. AMD has confirmed theyll support ddr5 in 2022. Intel has NOT confirmed when theyll support it. I asked them and was told "we cannot comment on unannounced products or product support". Then they referred me to their lackluster press releases page. So take it for what it is. It was supposed to launch end of year 2020. obviously they missed that window.
