Depending on how you define failing, my 5900x is failing to talk to my keyboard and mouse randomly. And it’s such a big issue that AMD has finally legally acknowledged the failures related to the B550 and X570 boards paired with the 5000 series GPUs relating to completely dead USB ports or ports dropping out randomly. Just checking out readit and other MNpost channels, I’m willing to bet AMD’s failure rate is much higher but I have no actual statics yet to prove how many people actually have this issue but it’s definitely more common when running 4.0 settings for NVME M2 drives and band-aided by downgrading the bios to run 3.0 instead of 4.0. Interestingly enough, the intel gpu’s aren’t having this issue using the same mb manufacturers equivalent boards to the amd boards with the 5000 series chips. I think some new poles need to be done on that failure bc it’s sounding much higher in forums on readit for my failure

Hmmmmm, i did have some weird freeze issue onmy Ryzen 3 3200g, but i think that was thing with C states or something? Been working now just fine after i tweaked my power settings... I lowered some power settings n stuff, and bought greater psu. Oh yea, i dont do overclocks, just the basic xmp profile.

Speaking of getting ahold of a gpu. You have recommended MicroCenter in the past so I wonder what your take is on them advertising online and Not selling them online. Are you nearby to the store in Tustin , as it's the closest one to where I live and as tempting as a road trip might be ... I would rather have the part mailed. Speaking with a live operator online I was told they only sell them ( graphics card ) in store . On March 1st they advertised having 3 available. Could be some of that back alley stuff you refer to ? MicroCenter gets a shit listing from me.

I have a ryzen 3800x with asus x570 tug gaming plus. 3 weeks ago it states that a usb error and it won’t go to windows. I took off all of the usb that is connected to it and found out that it was a usb-c type headphone that was connected to it created a conflict....I’m not quite sure but during startup I jus unplug that usb headphone and plug it in when windows start and it’s my problem connected to this issue - I guess I will never find out!

Just got my 1st USB dropout issue using USB3.1 to a 3.0 USB 5 port hub using a Corsair rbg k70 keyboard, Logitech G502 mouse, and a n audeze Möbius all plugged in on a Asus Rog Strix X570 E-gaming mb with a 5900x. Only happened 1 time after about 1 month of use after with about 1-4hr sessions each day. It temporarily dropped out all my external USB devices well gaming in Black op cold war campaign. I’m worried about this getting worse. Running - Asus Rog Strix X570 E-gaming mb Bios 2802 x64 - Nvme 4.0 gigabyte Aurora 1tb drive - 16gb of 3000mhz dual channel ram - 3080 Asus Tuf gaming gpu - 1200watt pcu gold 80+ - lian li mesh 2.0 with 2x 120 top exhaust fans, 1x 120 rear exhaust fan, and 5 from fans with 4 of those setup as a push-pull through a 240 cpu aio radiator. ( but I did not see actual cpu temps but the exhaust heat was still cool after 2 hrs of gaming) next time I will chech cpu/gpu temps when the issue happens to see if I have a bad cooler connection to the chipsets.

@Walther Penne Good to know, I changed my PCI-E NVME M2 4.0 drive to a 3.0 after talking to another MNpostr on his channel who said his issues were resolved after doing that since we had similar setups and the same issue. But still, we both spent a couple hundred extra to have the faster drives so this is a temporary patch well AMD figures this out. It’s not cool to pay for a product that is advertised to run newer harder only to find out it actually can’t run it without causing serious hardware crashes and failures so we have to run drives at half there capable speeds. So far, no more issues but I haven’t pushed my graphics card to hard yet like i did maxing out black ops cold war settings for my 3080 tuf gpu over a 3hr session which was the only time my 3.1 usb ports dropped out and luckily came back online after 10seconds. I’ve only been playing war thunder 1-2 hours at a time and watch streaming shows for 1 hr each night well I eat dinner.

We need a new GPU silicon manufacturer on the scene that literally only sells one GPU at a time from their own website with free shipping and normal MSRP/retail value sale prices! Everyone loves to toss the blame to covid for everything. Can't find your favorite soda in the store? COVID! Can't find a new toothbrush? COVID!! FFS We are not in lock down anymore and effectively it is business as usual for 90% or more of people aside from wearing a mask during your routine day/s. SO fucking dumb that they actually think people believe this, even though there are a few that will believe anything the news tells them or that they read on a random forum!

@Walther Penne Yeah, I have heard all about that, but I am not banking on them for much at all right now. CPU? Oh yeah the intel thunder is 100% gone AF for now due to AMD rolling in and a heavy kick to the intel face! Right now intels best thing going for them are the newer m.2 PCIE 4.0 SSDs and server based stuff. Everything else they are selling is for system manufacturers because no one with enough know how to build their own machine is going to pick intel right now. I prefer intel stuff because what they sell "just works". but in retrospect AMD stuff can't even manage to maintain USB connectivity! How screwed uo does shit have to be and get for the functions of USB slots to just randomly stop working? That is rough, and what is more important is that in the cases people resolved the issues they had to turn their PC into a build from a few years back before PCIE 4.0 came out since you have to change the bios settings so that the PCIE lanes run at 3.0 instead of 4.0! All the madness is not limited to just PC stuff either. It is in every major market right now. It is a mad house everywhere you look! lmfao

Hey man I just bought an Omen computer with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and Radeon RX 5700 and when I updated my drivers for the graphics card and started the install my computer restarted itself. It did it every time I tried to update adrenaline. Now my computer refuses to start windows and is in what seems to be an endless restarting loop. I am experiencing the issue of getting my headset disconnected from the USB hub, so I've had to work around and connect with the AUX-output on my monitor. More concerning to me though is, that it seems to effect my Corsair iCue connections as well (these are obviously through internal USB 2.0 headers, so no real deviation from the original symptom) which is worrying me a lot because I am afraid it might lead to my H115-cooling pump not spinning and therefore frying my CPU. Furthermore the display output of my 3080 Aorus Master does not seem capable to collect data from anything anymore, so it is just showing "0 W TGP" or "0 degresse Celsius". If there is a BIOS Update it is terryfying to think I might brick my Mainboard because the USB-Stick might get disconnected during the process of Updating the BIOS and I'm not particularly amazed about the outlook on having to slow down my PCIE Connections because I did not pay this much money to compromise on performance to be honest. They need to put a fix out SOON. Do you have any recommendations where to reach out to?

So last night I shut down as per normal and went to bed, got up next day to a Razor Black Widow keyboard not working correctly. To say it was spazzing out was an understatement, I couldn't log in and I would press 1 key and it would stream up tons of that letter. Rebooted, changed keyboards all similarly not working, tried a 3rd diff keyboard and everything worked. So I thought yeah, my keyboard is busted, so I tried it on my wife's PC and the keyboard worked fine, so I plugged it back in my PC and it worked absolutely perfectly. To say I was confused is an understatement, until I saw this video and now it makes sense. I updated bios to latest version which has "fixes" in it for USB stability so lets see - Gigabyte Gaming X and a AMD 3600.

@Walther Penne I've seen in-depth explanations, but not like yours, daaamn son! I figured it had to be the voltage since a lot of peeps reported 1.5V on their CPUs which is killer for 14nm even, deadlier for 7nm, but I see how they did it now. I still accuse them of cutting too many corners just so they make benchmarks look right for quick sales/stock.
Walther Penne
Walther Penne 13 цагийн өмнө
@Ark Design correct! You got it. Pretty much: The more you do at once with them (multitasking), the faster they (should, in theory) fail. If you ask why... Simpel! The more cores you use at once the higher your voltage has to be. And the more heat is being produced. But: Modern processors cannot use all transistors at once. They have to shut-off many of them to avoid "trouble". THis is why you today have no "real TDP" any longer. Since they consume a different amount of TDP in each load-scenario. Intel does shut these transistors off to avoid trouble (for now). this makes for slower access but avoids trouble. AMD seems to not do it. they just think it´s ok to use them all and then...well physical effects happen. If you do not shut them off, your processor is dying. You lose transistors. They will start malfunctioning. The longer your processor operates in this well let´s say "scheme" of extreme heavy load (online-gaming, chatting with voice, having 5 USB-2 Devices all used at once) the higher your cpu load is. Or in short. The higher your iOPS is! The faster your processor gets killed. USB 3 doesn´t kill your processor since it uses "tricks" like worse polling. USB 3 has a faster bandwidth, since it has more connections. But it also has worse polling to offload your processor. THIS Is why mouses do not use USB 3! They allways use USB 2 instead beacuse it´s faster (Latency)! So yeah: IOPS = Polling dude! Every peripheral you connect, such as mouses, keyboards, Cameras, printers etc The more polling you do, the more bandwidth is required, the faster your processor gets loaded with huge Iops. And this kills AMD Ryzen 5000-chips now. And trust me when i say it: USB is a very dangerous thing. When USB fails, and your cpu is connected to it in the second it fails and "overloads", your processor may die as well. I have seen systems in the past, where the USB failed, the processor got roasted as well! That is because the voltage of the USB flows directly through the processor, once it´s damaged. For this reason USB should never be overloaded!
Ark Design
Ark Design 14 цагийн өмнө
@Walther Penne i stand corrected, it's not the voltage it's the multi-tasking that's killing it. So "currently the best multi tasking CPUs" are dieing because they're made to do more things at the same time(as intended). And people don't lose their shit?
Walther Penne
Walther Penne 14 цагийн өмнө
@Ark Design no dude. Voltages itself aren´t killing your processor. I found out it has to do with I/O instead. So the more I/O-tasks you do (e.g. Windows, gaming, ONLINE-gaming, voice-chatting while gaming the faster your processor will get killed. This is called "Normal usage" after all. Some people never play online-games though. And they also never use Windows, but only Linux. In these cases the processor will last a lot longer becuase of much fewer I/O used.
Ark Design
Ark Design 4 өдрийн өмнө
I reckon they're cooking because of the voltages. They drown the cpu in high voltage to reach the numbers needed to pass the benchmarks and get it in the shops for quick sales. I swear this has been the amd business model for 20 years.

first video of computer hardware since november 2020, good video as always but i have given up on launch dates. I will stay with what i have during 2021 because i´m not paying dubbel. Half price would be more fair because booth intel and amd and Nvidia lied.

I've done several AMD builds (5,7,9) this year and haven't heard of any issues. But they are Ryzens.

it takes years until these AMD Ryzens will fail. Which is what i predicted. Still. In 2021 your systems might die. Lol. Or at least get malfunctioning...

Paul, I saw a video that said that the mining specific cards have hash rates lower than current gen cards. The top end one was much lower than the 3080 and the mining community is already telling people to stay away from them. Lower hash rate plus higher wattage means doa.

Voltage went wrong. For 7nm, the voltage they peak at when just slapping it in is complete overkill. They overclocked the CPUs as hard as they could to beat that nasty intel single core and now they are paying the price for boosting performance with a factory overclock so high it cooks the chips. Again, proof you guys are paying for overmarketed mediocre hardware that doesn't pass a minimum of QA before it gets the Ryzen sticker and the price slapped on it

If the 3% number is real, it's a big deal. Generally Si vendors target 500 DPM (defects per million) or less and often see less than 200 DPM. 3% is 30K DPM, which is pretty horrible. My guess is that this isn't a Si issue, but if real, it's more likely some MB/vendor edge case problem. High defect rates become huge problems for the supply chain as some markets demand Si defect rates near single digits (such as automotive). Also, as the part is built into motherboards and systems the cost of fixing a problem get much bigger which causes their major OEM customers to throw fits.

I'm having USB issues, but it seems only to be on my frontside USB 3.2 ports. I have a Ryzen 5600x, Asus b550-i ROG Strix mainboard. I plug my USB drives in the front, and they will frequently disappear and not recognized when copying files. This is obnoxious, as I do a lot of 3d printing, and my sd card reader with disappear when I try to copy my gcode to it.

This issue will get worse over time...unti it fries your USB-ports (see above/below comments) or your cpu will be killed because of faulty USB (which can easily damage an AMD Ryzen 5000 since USB is directly connected with your processor).

Me and my boyfriend recently bought 3600 cpus, as it’s the cheapest available rn. One thing we have noticed is although they don’t exactly overheat, but both of them, new out of box idle at around high 40 low 50c. Upper temps are around upper 60s low 70s. It’s quite odd that they’re considered perfect temp under load, but uncomfortably high when idle. Kinda wierd.

Bios update fixed past issues with my 5800x and X570
Walther Penne
Walther Penne 13 цагийн өмнө
I doubt these fixes will last long ;) It will only last maybe 6-12 more months...then isssues will come back (my prediction). faulty hardware can never be "fixed". you are only buying some time until the voltage, which is now simply higher by standard and making your cpu not instable, is not sufficient any longer. A modern cpu requires more voltage to run stable (assuming you undervolted it) every 1 year assuming you do heavy load on it (such as online-gaming, voice-chatting, mining, or simply doing other heavy load)...

yep. It´s another USB/AMD-Ryzen processor issue. This can even happen to Intel-processors (i heard) since they aren´t free from this massive USB 2/3-problem because when you connect an Oculus Rift S your iOPS to the processore are much higher than without it connected...

First, my motherboard Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 died with my Ryzen 5900x after a year and a half (only 1 year warranty in Russia) , now my new B550 Asus ROG Strix XE is driving me nuts with from time to time USB disconnections. I also have new RTX 3080 with this config. Doesn't help when you play competitive online games at all. (((
