for 1080-1440P on most games the faster card is the 6900xt. If you plan on doing allot of 4k gaming then the RTX 3080/3090 is the way to go.

Hmm not a fair test, scores results are irrelevant the 3090 is a factory overclocked card from Gigabyte, why use a Reference Radeon RX 6900 XT and a factory overclocked RTX 3090? Seems like a favor for the green team, which makes this a an unfair test. To make it a Fair test please use a Reference RTX 3090 if using a reference RX 6900 XT. if using a factory OC'ed RTX 3090 use a Factory OC'ed RX 6900 XT, this is a major problem with many YT reviewers always comparing Factory OC'ed NV Cards over reference AMD boards. I t would be nice if a fair competence was used, fair game on all sides. This a dislike from me, personally I favor AMD they are better priced but as a test goes tests need to be neutral, and comparing a Reference AMD card with a factory OC'ed NVIDIA card results an unfair result.

The stutter in GTA from radeons are because the FPS is going overboard. Limit your FPS and it'll be fine no stuttering whatso ever.

freesync vs g-sync , i don't know on other monitor but for having tried both cards on my Oled cx 48'' i can say that even if fps was almost sames in between the 6900xt and 3090 in average , g-sync was literally changing evrything in term of gaming experience , like this is not even comparable against freesync , and this tv/monitor have freesync premium but to be honest after trying g-sync , playing on freesync was a total mess , i have done everything to make sure that it was not a gpu switch with ddu fresh driver installation , but no it was just really very better with g-sync , not to mention that with the AMD gpu i was stock on 8 bit color insteand of 10 on the nvidia one . The price is of course disproportionnated for the 3090 , but very honestly the difference was way better enough to justify the price ( i game arround 6-8 hours per day).

Yes it would, it would completely obliterate the AMD cards with they used DLSS ON for the tests. That's the real benefit of nvidia, you can continue to up the resolution and maintain better FPS using DLSS. Something you can't do with AMD. And when comparing raytracing, AMD can't compete either. Wish more comparison/videos took this into account. In real world use, you'd be using DLSS at some point if you own an nvidia card. Either today or maybe 3+ years from now. Nvidia is still best value IMHO because of this.

so basically, in higher end tier, the most value is rtx3070, but higher tier between 3080,3090, 6800/6900xt, its better to go to amd, unless 4k and ray tracing you after then go nvidia. but ill vote amd for its efficiency and value better. and i think that amd card run at 2000mhz on avg with other brand like asus, giga, i think it can be push to 2300mhz avg, that will boost lots of fps i guess.

I only got the 6900xt because I had the 6800 was going to wait for 6800xt and go for the fastest I could get but this turned up and the way things are going no other cards are going to turn up soon and the prices will be mad

dude why didn't you turn off the amd smart memory for another run. because it increase fps by 6 and 5 percent thats alot. and if you turned it off for the other run it would be more even for nvidia instead of being more unfair for nvidia.

I think if they are going to test with smart memory on which is AMD specific they should also test with DLSS on which is nvidia specific. Then you'd see a real winner, nvidia on every test.

Once I get it on the waterblock I'll be boosting up voltage and power and cranking up to the 2850mhz peak boost I was able to get with jacked up fan speeds and my window open (lol)

if i find 1 at retail price ill probably pick up a asus 3090 and play on my tv as my tv is 4k intill i get new cpu my 5820k is already nearly maxed out on cyberpunks at 1080p. if i can not find 1 i will just keep saving for hole pc hell a 3090ti might be a thing before i save enough.

Money aside........the 6900xt is extreamly poor in this climate, no DLSS and raytracing performance so bad its unusable. hey, it is what it is! featureless card that won't age well.

Excellent video very informative. The $Trillionaire that owns Amazon sells the 6900 XT & 3090 cards for around $2500. Because I don't have that kind of $$$ I have chosen the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Newegg & Walmart offer this card for around $400. I figure the Plandemic will disappear 10 seconds after Biden's inaugeration & video card prices will fall back to earth. When this happens I'll upgrade to the 6900 XT & a Threadripper CPU & MB.

raytracing is still not worth using. performance needs to atleast double until raytracing is viable. the fact that a 3090 still loses so much of its frame rate for minimal visual gain all the while having to render at a lower res and upsample just to be playable, ya i leave that off lol. i have a 3080 and i dont play a single game with raytracing, i turn it on watch my frame rate tank and turn it back off lol. also cant think of a single game where it really changes the experience. games like cyberpunk or watchdogs legion still look great with rt off. id rather the smooth framerate than rt. maybe next gen for rt we can only hope

Also if you do not appreciate what went down with hardware unboxed and nvidia then your hunt is even more challenging since you will only be hunting for team red cards.

I think ray tracing is shit, i mean if it was 0% to performance then ok. but it just obliterates fps for a slight improvement. Games without any ray tracing can still have nice reflections and lighting

@TheInfamous yea hope so that the mainstream consoles will make the technology more popular and bring us some good games, hopefully there'll be something good by the time i upgrade to rtx 5080, i'll keep gtx 1080 untill it can run games on lowest-medium settings lol, then a huge improvement rather than just 30% increase in fps each upgrade

@Mode Z There's a lot more than 5 games with RTX support. And with both Xbox and PS now supporting RT you can expect most top-tier multiplats to support RT. IMO Anyone looking to pick up a graphics card who also cares about future-proofing should be considering RT and DLSS support.

You have to be very careful here. In many results, the 6900XT was within 5-10% of the 3090, but is over 30% cheaper. Bang for buck, AMD comes out on top.

Hardware. It just can't compete with the dedicated hardware on Nvidias GPUs. Needed more Ray Accelerators for more demanding raytracing features is my guess (since using more than 1 raytracing feature at once absolutely plummets framerates on AMD).

@Hunter Bear there are plenty of benchmarks out there that dont use Smart Access Memory. The results are pretty much the same. SAM doesnt make enough of a difference. Its not like if you turned on raytracing and DLSS, in the one of like 3 games that utilize it of course lmfao, for Nvidia and was like "Well nvidia beats AMD"

I am happy to get my hands on a EVGA RTX 3090ftw ultra for MSRP. This card is a beast and I play 3440x1440 ultrawide. So I think I will be good for next few years.
